Handy Squad Services โ€“ Terms and Conditions (Summary)

1. Parties

  • Client means you, the customer.

  • Contractor means Handy Squad Services providing the work.

2. General

  • We reserve the right to refuse any work.

  • If any part of these terms is invalid, the rest still apply.

  • These terms follow Canadian law (adapt if needed).

3. Charges and Pricing

  • Charges include materials (marked up by 25%) plus labour time.

  • We estimate time and cost before starting but final charges depend on actual work done.

  • Parking or other costs will be passed on.

  • Material sourcing may incur a fee.

  • Estimates are not fixed prices unless agreed.

4. Diagnostic Work

  • Initial visits to diagnose unknown problems are charged fully.

  • Further visits may be needed.

5. Fixed Price Work

  • Fixed rates apply when booked and may be discounted.

  • Extra time beyond fixed bookings is charged additionally.

  • Changes to the quote must be in writing.

  • 50% deposit required before starting fixed-price jobs.

6. Cancellation

  • 48 hoursโ€™ notice required to avoid cancellation fees.

  • Late cancellations incur charges depending on job type.

7. Payment

  • Payment is due at the end of the job by cheque, card, or bank transfer (no cash).

  • Accounts must be paid within 30 days.

  • Non-payment may lead to legal action.

8. Deferred Payment

  • We may hold payment details to secure job payment until completion.

9. Complaints

  • Report any issues within 12 months.

  • We will fix genuine faults free of charge.

  • Fixing issues via third parties releases us from liability.

10. Collateral Damage

  • Please clear areas before work starts.

  • Weโ€™re careful but not responsible for accidental damage to items left in place.

  • Moving items during work may be charged.

11. Guarantees

  • 12-month guarantee on labour and materials supplied by us.

  • Guarantee void if work is misused, altered by others, or materials supplied by client.

  • No guarantees on blockages or work done against our advice.

12. Indemnity

  • You agree to cover any losses or claims against us caused by your breach of contract.

13. Limitation of Liability

  • Weโ€™re only liable for repairs or damages caused by our negligence.

  • We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses.

14. Force Majeure

  • Weโ€™re not responsible for delays caused by uncontrollable events like strikes or natural disasters.

15. Customer Responsibility

  • You must provide safe access, power, and water for our work.

  • Notify us of any hazards before work starts.

16. Waste Removal

  • You are responsible for removing waste from the work site unless otherwise agreed.

17. Frozen Pipes

  • We do not guarantee work on frozen pipes or related blockages.

18. Waiver of Terms

  • Changes to these terms must be written and agreed by both parties.

  • Our terms override any other terms you might have.
